黛西、潘妮都是人名雙關(會混淆理解所以無視), 前者指常見的雛菊花瓣占卜, 後者指不吉利的硬幣, 人們認為反面朝上的硬幣會帶來厄運。
"踩在人行道的裂縫上"會倒楣, 來自孩子們玩遊戲時會講的押韻俗諺“Step on a crack, break your momma's back”, 然後中世紀歐洲將黑貓視為女巫的化身或魔鬼的使者, 是種不吉利的象徵。
交叉手指是種祈禱好運的方式, 手勢通常是將中指彎曲跨在食指上, 形狀類似十字架, 在西方文化中代表著祈求神聖的力量或保佑, 以抵擋惡運。
